Noteworthy

· Marcia Rising from the Board of Health presented selectmen with a packet of complaints and information about dog feces at the Delaney Project. Rising said too many dog walkers have not been cleaning up after their dogs while walking them in the conservation land.

Rising said the Board of Health met with the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife and came up with a plan to step up enforcement of dog walkers cleaning up after their animals. The division will post signs and talk to people in the parking lot, to begin with.

The police will also be stopping by to check up, said Rising. This trial enforcement, including a fine of $50, will last until Nov. 1 of this year.

If the problem does not get better, said Rising, the town may be forced to declare a moratorium on dog walking at the Delaney Project.

“It has turned what was once a very lovely spot into a not-lovely spot,” said Rising.
